Introduction
Since 2003, the Royal Scientific Society (RSS),
the Princess Sumaya University for Technology
(PSUT), the University of Applied Sciences
Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), Ecosys and
Sustainable Business Associates (SBA) have been
cooperating in promoting Cleaner Production,
Environment Management, Environment Resources
Management, Environmental Economics and
Entrepreneurship in Jordanian industries, and have
thus developed excellent academic and practical
expertise in these fields.

The
partners have realized the need in Arab countries
for establishing specialized postgraduate courses to
enhance practitioners' competence in the
environmental field. This Environmental Technology
and Management Master program is designed to achieve
this important mission and provide Jordan and the
Arab region with a core group of skilled and
well-trained practitioners to address adequately the
environmental challenges of our region.
Environmental Technology and Management is a central
component to improving the environmental performance
by bridging the gap between the economy and the
environment and integrating social/human well-being
in the development processes.

Objectives
The
Master program in Environmental Technology and
Management aims to prepare future technical staff
and decision-makers in both public and private
sectors for analyzing and acting in an
environmentally proactive manner in relation with
policies, production processes and resources
utilization.
The program combines both theory and practice on the
one hand and technical and managerial aspects on the
other. Moreover, it covers the most urgent issues
for development based on real life experiences.
Therefore, this unique program will enable students

Postgraduates who, at least, have completed
their BSc / BA from accredited universities in
basic or applied sciences, engineering,
management and economics.

Early- or mid-career professionals in various
organizations (private and public sectors, NGOs,
etc).

Government officials involved in policy-making
for environmental technology and management.

Pedagogy
The pedagogy will link theory and practice and will
broaden and integrate knowledge rather than going in
depth in a specific domain. The tools that will be
used include lectures, case studies, field work,
e-learning, video conferencing, round table
discussions, workshops, interdisciplinary group
assignments, report writing, individual and group
presentations, and term papers.
Program Structure
The Master program will consist of 8 courses, one
field project, and a dissertation. All the courses
will share the same approach comprising theoretical
and practical courses accompanied by in-depth case
studies and analyses.
The course structure is based on existing Swiss
training modules that are adapted to Jordan and the
Arab countries. The Master program requires
successful completion of 33 credit hours as follows:

Venue
This
program will be given at PSUT and RSS located in
Amman.
Duration
The
duration of this evening program is 24 months (4
semesters). The Master program will start in
October 4 2009 and will last until June 2011.
Tuition fee
The
tuition fee is JD 150 per credit hour. It is the
applicant's responsibility to cover these fees.
Application Deadline
The application deadline is 7th September 2009.
Interested applicants from Jordan and the Arab
countries are requested to send a motivation letter
together with their Curriculum Vitae and a certified
copy of their latest university degree. The Master
program is limited to 15 students for optimal
pedagogy and learning. A selection of the best
students will be made by an ad hoc committee.
Entrance Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements: |

at least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited
university in basic or applied sciences and
engineering, management and economics.

Demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English.

good communication skills.

Facilities
PSUT has
one of the most modernized and friendly university
campuses in the area. It is also an integral
component of the El Hassan Science City, the
resources of which are available for PSUT students.
In particular, the RSS Environment Research Center
Labs, are available for post-graduate teaching,
research and training purposes. |
